The Waterbury Historical Society cordially invites you to attend the Grand Opening of our newly renovated History Center on Friday, February 12th from 3:00-5:00 pm and again on Saturday, February 13th from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. Our Curator, Jack Carter has many exciting exhibits ready for you to explore. You will have an opportunity to visit the first floor in the Janes' building to experience what Dr.Janes' office may have looked like when he resided there. You can also browse through the book "A Walk Through Waterbury: Small Town, Big History" that was created by students at the Thatcher Brook Primary School and published in 2014. On the second floor (which is now handicap accessible) visitors will view artifacts relating to the Mount Mansfield Electric Railroad, discover information on the Vermont State Hospital, WDEV, Ghost Walks from the past, and even have some fun guessing what some of our collection was used for in the past, by participating in a "Whatz It?" game! Waterbury-related prizes will be awarded to all who venture a guess. Our Archivist, Linda Kaiser will be available in her new office to introduce the PastPerfect computer program that can provide information to anyone interested in specific information about our community. There will be a reception - "A Taste of Waterbury" in the Steele Conference room. Many of our local restaurants have donated special treats to make this celebration a very special occasion. We hope to see you there.
