Love will be the theme at BrattleMasters, the Brattleboro chapter of Toastmasters, this week. Club members may incorporate the theme into speeches, impromptu speaking exercises and other activities this Thursday, 6 p.m., at the Marlboro College Graduate Center, 2nd floor, 28 Vernon St., Brattleboro. The public is invited. Suzanne Bansley will be Toastmaster of the Evening.
"What is love" was the most searched phrase on Google in 2012. "Everyone has different definitions and there are many definitions and many ways to show and experience love," Bansley says. "Love is a powerful neurologic urge, like hunger or sleep. It's intimate, romantic, passionate, and sometimes painful and uncomfortable. Love can be in the form of puppy love, playfully affectionate, friendly love, self love, and adoration. Love inspires stories, poems, heroic acts, and even fights and war. Love is a mix of feelings, emotions, attitudes, and actions. Love is blind, love is free, love is virtuous, love is kindness, love is generosity, love is transcendent, love is [fill in the blank]."
Three speeches, extemporaneous speaking and inductions of new members are scheduled.
