ACT 46 Public Meeting to be held at the Wallingford Elementary School, Tuesday, February 9, 2016, 6:30 p.m.
The Act 46 Study Committee of the Rutland South Supervisory Union has secured State Board of Education Approval for the proposed merger of the existing RSSU schools into one unified education district under the oversight of a single 11 -member board. Details of the proposal are available at http://rssu.org Important considerations:
1. The new district’s name will appear on ballots on March 1, 2016 as the “White Rocks Unified School District”. A final decision on the ultimate name of the district, if merger is approved, will be made shortly after March 1 by members of the newly elected board and based on all public input provided.
2. Board composition from each town will be as follows: Clarendon – 4 members Shrewsbury – 2 members Tinmouth – 1 member Wallingford – 4 members. If you are interested in running for one of the board seats from your town please pursue necessary petitions through the local Town Clerk’s Office. See your Town Clerk for requirements.
3. Voting will occur on March 1, 2016. Your vote is important!
