The Green Mountain Fly Tyers are offering classes for those interested in tying flies for fly fishing. These lessons are designed to provide an introduction to fly tying and the basic skills required for success to those new to tying and those who would like to improve their basic skills. These lessons are open to all, young and old, who would like to learn about tying. No skills or experience are necessary. These lessons will provide the basic skills used to tie a variety of flies used in fishing for a various fresh and salt water species of fish.

The lessons will be held on Mondays including February 15th (Presidents Day) and 22nd and March 7th and 14th. No lesson will be held on February29th due to Town Meeting Day. Lessons will run from 6:30 to 9:00 pm at the Godnick Center in Rutland. Two patterns selected for the skills involved in tying them will be tied at each lesson for a total of eight patterns. Six flies of each pattern will be tied, two in class and four for homework. Students will end up with 48 flies and can experience the thrill of catching fish on the flies they have tied. Please let us know if you are interested so we get an accurate headcount for preparation of materials for the lessons. There will be a $20.00 fee for the lessons. Also please let us know if you need fly tying tools. We can provide a basic tool kit for $20. Please contact:
