The following was written by my student at the LiHigh School, 10th grader, Ariella Eirmann:

My name is Ariella, and I am a 10th grader in the Social Entrepreneurial Program at LiHigh School, where I and my classmates connect our academics to our interests. To start the year, we are doing a group project making Little Free Libraries. Little Free Libraries are like large bird houses that are filled with books. The libraries are placed around our home communities and anyone can take a book out as long as they leave one in its place.

To gather the books we need for the Little Free Libraries, we are hosting kid's activities during the Chili Cook Off in Poultney on Saturday September 28th, from 10 AM to 1 PM. We will be on the LiHigh School lawn on Main Street. We will have an arts and crafts table, face painting, three-legged races, doughnut-eating races, and more!

All we ask is that participants donate a book to play!

Some of books we are looking for include fiction books about cross-country travel, the environment, teen mysteries, teen and adult horror stories, teen science-fiction, historical fiction, music, animals, siblings, friendships, classic works, thrillers, and books for young children.

We are also looking for nonfiction books about astronomy and stargazing, Vermont/New England/US history, flight, horses and other animals, conservation and endangered species, field guides, “How to” books for girls, self-help for teens, music, myths and legends, positive-reinforcement animal training, arts and crafts, cookbooks for kids, dance, fashion, coupe auto racing, medical books, books on magic and illusions, memoirs about personal trauma, herb gardening, plants, eating Healthy, and biographies of astronomers, women activists, and magicians.

We can't wait to see you on Saturday!
