School District Consolidation Information Feb. 4

Past event
Feb 4, 2016, 6:30 PM

There is an Information Meeting about School District Consolidation on 2-4-16, 6:30 at the Mountain School. This is a great time to hear how the proposed consolidation of our Towns into a single school district will work and what it means to our local school and to you. There will also be 2 more meetings coming up in Wallingford at their school on the 9th and 23rd, both at 6:30, in case you can't make the Shrewsbury meeting. The mailings and articles in the Times have all been written to give you the basics of what consolidation means, but to make it even shorter and to the point, I am including the really basic points. Please forward this information to anyone you think may need it. I will be happy to speak with you if you would like more details or explanations. Call me at 492-3578.

What Your Vote on School District Consolidation Means….
A YES vote:
Our school can’t close without our consent.
Local voices will still be heard.
Our school will operate as it does now.
A NO vote:
Tax rates will go up significantly.
The State Agency of Education will control our school’s future.

Also, to be completely clear on what to expect when you receive your ballots. There will be 3. One for the Mill River Budget; one that refers to the Mountain School, only; and one that asks whether to consolidate our 4 towns' and Mill River school districts into one district and who should represent us. You should be voting all 3 ballots!
Thanks for reading, Adrienne Raymond
