It's budget development time once again leading up to the annual meeting and budget vote in April. We held a couple of quick budget work sessions in January where the administration presented a first EJ School Budget proposal which was very responsible having only a 1.8% increase in per pupil spending (below an inflationary increase and well below statewide average per pupil spending). This will also be safely below the allowable growth provision you may have heard about in the news from the legislature.
As a result, combined with factors like the increase in the grand list and the budget for the High School; based on the best estimates for the state numbers our current projection is that your EJ school taxes should decrease slightly next year!
Regarding EJRP, once again, the budget will be proposed with a level tax rate (which we have been able to do for over 10 years running!). Both of these will take us through our last year with separate districts and leave us well prepared for the unification of the schools across the community into the single district starting in July 2017.
