Want to learn more about how Burlington is tackling the discussion about divestment and its pension fund? Please join us for a public forum this Wednesday, 2/3 at 5:30 pm.

DIVESTMENT COMMITTEE PUBLIC FORUM: In December 2014, the City Council approved a resolution for the formation of a committee to study the divestment of Burlington’s public funds from the major fossil fuel companies and to develop a set of criteria to help guide analysis on divestment. Please join us on Wednesday, February 3, 5:30-7:00, in Contois Auditorium, City Hall to learn about and discuss: 1) the Committee’s process, deliberations and what they’ve learned thus far; 2) the City Council-approved criteria; and 3) where the Burlington Employee Retirement System (BERS) Board’s stands regarding possible next steps on pension investment.

This meeting will begin with an introduction (5:30-5:45), continue with a presentation by the Committee (5:45-6:15), and conclude with a public forum for the community to share their comments, questions, thoughts and ideas (6:15-7:00). For information on the event, please contact Selene Colburn, City Council East District at scolburn@burlingtonvt.gov or Jennifer Green, City of Burlington, (jgreen@burlingtonvt.gov) or 865-7532.
