The True Story of Ash Wednesday to be shared in Canaan

Many people have heard of Ash Wednesday and others may have taken part in the tradition of receiving ashes. Yet most people have not a clue as to why Christians have repeated this ceremony for two thousand years. Wednesday night Feb. 10th is your chance to learn the answers to your many questions.

"This will be a night to remember Jesus' 40 day struggle in the desert" says Pastor Frank Sawicki of Canaan's Grace Community Church. "To bring about change in our life and community and to spiritually renew ourselves I invite people inside to hear that story." This special candlelit service is a silent night of a repentant heart with a reading of scripture, music and reflection in a honoring atmosphere that has warmly seen this event for over 142 years.
