Kevin Pearce was a 22-year-old Olympic snowboarding hopeful and one of America’s top riders when on December 31, 2009, just weeks before the Vancouver Olympics, he suffered a traumatic head injury while practicing in Park City, Utah. In an instant, Kevin went from snowboarding superstar to brain injury victim. After weeks in critical care, Kevin was moved to a rehabilitation center where he began the long and painful road to recovery. Miraculously, Kevin has not only survived–but thrived. His story has been told in the HBO documentary “The Crash Reel.” Kevin has also helped create LoveYourBrain, an organization that has created a community of support for those who have suffered from traumatic brain injuries as well as focusing on ways to understand and improve brain health. Told he may never snowboard again, today Kevin is back on his snowboard and is coming to Champlain College to speak and share his fascinating story of recovery. Brought to you by LoveYourBrain and Champlain Ski & Ride.
