Exploring Independence Panel Discussion This Mon.

Past event
Jan 25, 2016, 6 to 9 PM

This Monday, January 25th from 6:00-9:00 PM at the Warren Town Hall a panel discussion will be taking place to explore the idea of creating a local, Independent School. This event is open and free to all.

Independence comes in many forms and the process of moving from public to independence brings up numerous questions which we hope our great line-up of panelists will be able to address, providing attendees the confidence to formulate informed opinions about all options for local education.

Some of the many questions submitted by the public and distributed to our panelists thus far include:
1. Given that federal funding is used for free/reduced lunch is that a program that will still be available?
2. Does act 46 effect independent schools if they receive tax dollars?
3. How does this impact high school students and finances?
4. Please explain the impact becoming independent has had on your taxes.
5. How would teachers have job security? Retirement? Salary?
6. Would this school be required to and able to accept all children in it's community?

We hope a wide range of local community members will be there to engage in this thought-provoking discussion. If you were not able to submit a question there will be a chance to pose questions on Monday night.

Please visit our website exploringindependence.org or visit us on our Facebook page "Exploring Independence" for more info, including a list of our current panelists.
