Dear Neighbors,

On Monday, the City Council will hold the last of its four meetings for the month of January.

The Council will begin its evening at 7pm in Contois Auditorium in City Hall. We have a brief Local Control Commission meeting. We will move to our Council agenda. The first item on our deliberative agenda is a communication from our auditor on our FY15 audit and management letter. We will then hold a series of public hearings on Charter changes that will appear on the Town Meeting Day ballot in March.

We will have a discussion on the citizen petition regarding the North Avenue corridor study. There are a group of citizens who have collected the required number of signatures to place a question on the Town Meeting Day ballot on this study.

We have one indoor entertainment permit for Smitty’s Pub on North Avenue followed by three remaining resolutions, the first is regarding safe recovery and the second relates to increasing the role of nurse practitioners in cases of opiate addiction. The last resolution authorizes the City to collect delinquent taxes from local businesses.

Our last items on our agenda are Council committee reports, comments from Councilors and the Mayor. After our Council meeting, we have a meeting with the Mayor presiding to vote on an appointment to the Board of Assessors. We also have a Board of Civil Authority to discuss an appeal on a decision of the Board of Tax Appeals.

As with all Council meetings, please keep in mind that you are always welcome to come and speak to the Council on any subject you wish during our Public Forum which begins at 7:30pm. Clickable agenda items can be found on the City's website:
