OK, so that subject line is a teaser. The Town of Hinesburg is not taking over Route 116... yet. This is in fact one idea being evaluated as part of the Route 116 Corridor Study. What would this solve? What kind of control would we have, and at what cost? These and other questions can't be asked or answered unless we know what YOU think are the most important issues along the Route 116 corridor through the village area of Hinesburg. YOUR feedback at the Route 116 Community Forum on Tuesday (9/24) will help our traffic consultant and project steering committee hone in on the issues that matter. Please join us at 7pm at the Hinesburg Town Office for the discussion. Tune in, turn on, and drop in to be part of the process and help us find solutions.
We already have a traffic consultant and 9 project steering committee members on the job. That means you can come, speak out, listen in, and then go home - i.e., no committee entrapment or obligations for future meetings. An hour or two to share your thoughts, so that our project team can find you and the rest of the community answers and options. Community involvement isn't just a quaint concept. It is what drives progressive dialogue and successful places. Let's keep the Hinesburg success story going. Drop by the Town Office on Tuesday evening to play your part.
Can't make the meeting, but want to share your thoughts? Just email me, and I'll pass your message along to the project steering committee and consultant. For more information on the Route 116 Corridor Study, see the Town website at http://www.hinesburg.org/route116-corridor-study. Many thanks to the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission for funding and overseeing this project!
