Act 46 Options Presentation, Thursday 7pm Poultney Highschool

Act 46 was passed in May of 2015 to accomplish two goals: improve the educational opportunities for students and to create more cost effective educational systems. This past summer, the Towns of Ira, Middletown Springs, Poultney, and Wells as well as the Rutland Southwest Supervisory Union hired a team of educational consultants to study the options available to each of our school districts under the newly established legislation. On Thursday, January 14, 2016, the consulting team will present their findings at a supervisory union-wide Forum (all four towns) at Poultney High School at 7:00 pm. The consultants were tasked with looking at all viable options for each of the town school districts under the new law, and assessing the opportunities and challenges associated with each option. The consultants will be sharing what each school district may face in potential mergers with other educational partners. The study results will give school boards options and directions that will likely affect the school districts as you now know them. All four communities are invited and encouraged to attend this forum on January 14th. A snow date for the forum is Monday, January 18, 2016 at Poultney High at 7:00 pm. Digital copies are available at RSWSU.org, under Public Information.
