An early announcement to get on your calendar. January 27 at 7 PM. Unmanned aerial devices (drones) are being used by children, scientists, enforcement agencies, businesses, and by government for various purposes including military operations..Several of these uses are beneficial, but their use in domestic surveillance many times violates privacy and Constitutional rights. The technology has gotten out ahead of the needed regulations and infrastructure, and poses an increasing threat. The Charlotte Library is hosting an information meeting on this important topic, which is co-sponsored by the Peace and Justice Center and the Will Miller Green Mountain Chapter of Veterans for Peace. A program of one hour's length, including discussion, will be presented by a staff member of the Peace and Justice Center, and will include a short history of surveillance in the United States. Light refreshments offered.
