Per the annual tradition, the Selectboard and the School Board are having a joint public meeting tomorrow to discuss your taxes for next year. OK, so really we're discussing the budgets, but taxes flow directly from the Town and School budgets that both boards have worked on for the last couple months. This meeting is your opportunity to hear and give feedback on the proposed budgets BEFORE they are finalized and voted on in March.

Since the demise of Town Meeting for budget items several years ago, voters do NOT have the ability to amend these budgets on Town Meeting day with the Town Report in one hand and a microphone in the other. If you would like to see changes to these budgets (overall amount or specific areas), the best time to pay attention and be heard is NOW. Wednesday's meeting is an excellent opportunity! Both the Selectboard and the School Board will present their draft budgets, and will then be your captive audience for questions and suggestions. The Selectboard will meet again on January 14 to discuss any feedback received and make final adjustments to the proposed budget.
