The Guilford Conservation Commission is forwarding this notice from our colleagues in Dummerston, about an important workshop for those interested in land conservation. We hope to sponsor a similar workshop in Guilford this year, but this is a terrific opportunity to learn more.
"Conserving Your Land Everything You Wanted to Know but Didn't Know Where to Ask"
Wednesday, January 20th 7:00 pm Dummerston Congregational Church
jct. East West Rd. & Middle Rd., Dummerston Center
Are you a landowner, or are you thinking of becoming one some day? This program will provide information to landowners who value their land in ways that might include conserving it into the future. Specific attention will be given to conservation easements.
A panel of four owners of conserved land and one former owner who conserved her property herself but still lives on it, will share their conservationexperience -- why they conserved their land or bought conserved land, what conservation means to them, and the benefits of land conservation for them and for the town.
The panelists are John Evans, Stewart McDermet, Greg Moschetti, Mary Lou Schmidt, and Karen Falk Sugden. Following their presentations, Joan Wier of the Vermont Land Trust will explain how a conservation easement works and the various ways by which a landowner can conserve his or her land with a conservation easement.
There will be ample opportunity for questions and discussion. Written information on conservation easements and related subjects will be available.
