The Marshfield Energy and Climate Change Committee and the Plainfield Energy Team want to let you know about an event that can save you heating fuel and money

The Community Action Council and Efficiency Vermont are sponsoring a homeowner Do-it-Yourself Weatherization Skills Workshop at the CVCAC Weatherization Office at 20 Gable Place in Barre. Homeowners interested in performing weatherization work themselves to save money are encouraged to attend to learn the basics of heat lose in homes and to practice proper correction methods.

The Do-it-Yourself program includes an energy audit by a certified contractor to identify the needed improvements, a division of the work to accomplish the improvements between the trained homeowner and the professional and oversight of the homeowner work by the professional all to assure the final product is as safe and effective as possible within the budget. Without oversight, homeowners could unknowingly create moisture/mold/ventilation issues.

This workshop will cost $25 and 6 hours of your time. You will get a weatherization book to further guide you. If you are at all handy, we think this is a great investment of your time and money. With this training you are very likely to find one or more simple-to-fix heat lose issues (some resulting in significant savings) that you can correct right away at little cost. This is in addition to the money you will save making other DIY improvements coming from the audit.

Please consider taking advantage of this workshop. Homeowners that are concerned they can not afford repairs can take this opportunity to reduce the cost significantly with a little hands-on work. You may register at www.weatherizationskillsworkshop.com/registration
