Timber Harvest Tour At Molly Stark State Park

Friday, January 8, from 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm – Windham Regional Woodlands Association presents a tour led by Tim Morton, State Forester, and Long View Forest Contracting, of an active timber harvest at Molly Stark State Park in Wilmington. The harvest uses a combination of harvest machine felling and hand cutting designed to improve snowshoe hare habitat while being sensitive to trails and park infrastructure. Dress for winter conditions; bring snowshoes.

Directions:
From Brattleboro: Exit #2, I-91, West on VT Route 9. Parking at Molly Stark State Park is extremely limited in winter. Therefore we will meet in the big parking lot on the north side of Route 9 that is just west of the Hogback Mountain Gift Shop and the old Skyline Restaurant. From the meeting place, we will car pool the mile-and-a-half to the tour site.

RSVP to tim.morton@vermont.gov so he can reschedule in case of bad weather or if the job hasn’t started yet.
