The Islands in the Sun Senior Center will be holding elections for their board on Thursday evening, October 10, at 7PM in the Fire Hall. We are awaiting our new lease for the senior center as promised by the town Selectboard and once we have it renovations will begin, at no cost to the taxpayers. We are planning for a very active Center, open to the community, to use for all types of events. The Senior Center has always welcomed groups for all occasions, card groups, private celebrations of birthdays, anniversaries, christenings, etc. as well as opportunities for the public to enjoy group events and gatherings. With the planned renovations, the community will once again have a warm, welcoming, safe and comfortable place to gather. The possibilities are endless and the benefit to the community will be amazing.

A nominating committee has been formed to select from the current members, a slate of officers for the coming year. If you, or any member you know, would like a position, please contact Ernie Cleland, Joanne Shedrick or Irene Clarke to be considered for nomination.

We are now looking towards the future and making the Islands in the Sun Senior Center a vibrant and welcomed hub for the community. If you are at least fifty years old, and live in Alburgh or the surrounding areas, we urge you to join our group. Membership is ten dollars and will be good from now through 2014. Remember, you need to be a member to vote in the election, and the board you elect will work to bring your interests to life.
