Archie Shepp in Concert
January 30, 2016 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm EST | $25 - $30

Archie SheppAlumnus and NEA 2016 Jazz Master Award winner Archie Shepp (BA ’59) will join us in concert at the Habyarn Theatre on Saturday, January 30, 2016 during Goddard College’s MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts Spring 2016 residency.

Shepp is best known for his Afrocentric music of the late 1960s, a unique style of free-form avant-garde jazz blended with African rhythms, and his collaborations with John Coltrane, Horace Parlan, Cecil Taylor, and the New York Contemporary Five ensemble. His long career as an educator has focused on ethnomusicology, looking at the history of African-American music from its origins in Africa to its current state.

The day after the concert, on January 31, 2016, Archie Shepp will give the commencement address to the MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts graduating students.

Tickets for the Saturday night concert are $25 in advance, $30 at the door. Doors open at 7:30pm.
