Emes Budget Deliberations and Forum

Past event

Hi neighbors
As many of you are aware, we're facing a particularly difficult budget season this year. Due in part to the spending caps imposed by Act 46, the Elementary School needs to cut roughly $125,000 from our budget or we'll be subject to a spending penalty, which would mean raising $2 in taxes for every $1 we go over the limit (something we as a Board feel is not an option).

The Board asked the administration to present us some scenarios and options for how/ where to implement the cuts. I don't think anyone is happy with any of the choices, and all of them affect the learning opportunities at the school. We presented these choices at our forum on Tuesday night, and will present them again on Monday the 21st at 6:00PM.

Below are very simple outlines of the 3 choices we have. We would appreciate your input and discussion, though please be aware that as a Board we *cannot* deliberate outside of a properly warned meeting (and that means we can't respond to most discussions on FPF). Our comments and deliberations are reserved for our next meeting (on the 21st). However, we welcome input and all of our contact information is on the EMES website (http://emontpelierschool.org).

We all hope to hear your thoughts and see you there,
Rubin
