Cave Concert, Sunday December 13, 3 pm, Bonnieview Farm Cheese Cave, 2500 South Albany Road, Albany
Farm Song, a small group of farmers, homesteaders, and brewers who love to sing, will give a Cave Concert in Bonnieview Farm’s new cheese cave on Sunday, December 13 at 3 pm. The singers invite the audience to revel in darkness: the darkness of the cave and the darkness of early winter. Songs will include shape note hymns by early Vermont composers Justin Morgan and Jeremiah Ingalls; a pair of Ukrainian love songs; a dirge from northern England; liturgical and Christmas songs from the Caucasus; a few 13th century English songs; and some traditional British Wassail songs. The concert will close with a shape note and carol sing along, followed by hot organic apple cider from Greensboro’s Cate Hill Orchard and Bonnieview cheese snacks. Bonnieview Farm and Cate Hill Orchard will have cheese, wool, honey, lamb, organic apples and more for sale after the concert, so come prepared to do some Christmas shopping.
Bonnieview Farm has been making award winning farmstead sheep cheese since 1999, and in 2013 began milking cows and producing mixed milk and cow cheeses as well. The newly finished cave will allow them to double production of their cheeses, and has amazing acoustics. This is a one time chance to see the cave before it is filled with aging cheeses. Come and celebrate the darkness! Call 755-6878 for more info.
