Screenplay as Memoir: VCFA Faculty Talk/Reading

Hi neighbors! One of our faculty members in the new MFA in Writing & Publishing program at VCFA is giving a talk/reading this Saturday, and it's free and open to the public! Tim Kirkman is a filmmaker, screenwriter, and memoirist, as well as a warm, funny, engaging speaker. All are welcome. The presentation will take place in the Gary Library on campus.

Join filmmaker and MFA Writing & Publishing Faculty Tim Kirkman for a presentation and conversation on December 12th at 2 pm in the VCFA Library. Tim will present clips from his films, discuss the role memoir has played in his work, and read an unpublished personal essay.

Writer/Director Tim Kirkman received Emmy, Gotham, GLAAD and Independent Spirit Award nominations for his first feature film, the documentary DEAR JESSE, which was named Best Documentary of the Year by the Boston Society of Film Critics.

His third feature, LOGGERHEADS, starring Bonnie Hunt, Tess Harper, Chris Sarandon, Michael Kelly and Kip Pardue premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and won the top prize at OutFest, as well as numerous other awards. It was distributed theatrically by Strand Releasing. He also directed the feature films 2ND SERVE (written by James Markert) and THE NIGHT LARRY KRAMER KISSED ME (written by and starring David Drake). He lives in Los Angeles.
