Reflection: Castleton Planning Commission - Info Meeting - Dec. 17

After receiving this notification and following up for more info (w/ John Hale via e-mail and phone call discussion), I will be attending this meeting. I believe that it is not in the best interest of developing this land and would only create a "Commercial Backyard" for residents/ families that reside on Drake Rd/ Mountain View Lane/Rt 30N like myself. We purchased our property (2010) due to the beauty of this area and most importantly the safety and well-being of our young family (School nearby, ect.) I can assure you this development near a school and residents will not help in trying to "Lure" young families to our area, as at most school board/town meetings this has been a repeated concern for the well-being/future of our Castleton Community.

Changing the zoning district to: Residential/Commercial 2 Acre, would allow a slew of options of this land, (ex. Motel/Hotel, Warehouse, Retail Sales and Service and many more options).

I also find it ironic that this plan/commission for re-zoning this land was and has been pushed/supported by the head of the board (Joe Bruno) who is one of the co-owners of a large plot of land (within this district) surrounding Sheldon Rd and RT 30N (west side) .

A handful of residents on Drake Rd/Mountain View Ln. (including myself) have reach out to the owners of this land (Sheldon Family /Including Joe Bruno) about this specific area within the past 2-5 years about purchasing this land in order to keep the beauty of it, only to be denied (w/o detail).

I can only imagine how disappointed the late Mr. Sheldon would have been to see this land/ (agricultural in the past) to be potentially developed upon by allowing it to change to "Commercial".

Although review of this idea has been already allocated, I encourage other residents to attend this meeting for more detailed information/ overview.
