Hanukkah Celebration with Live Music, Free Food, and Dancing!

Beth El Synagogue is putting on a Hanukkah party this Saturday, December 12th at 4:30pm. In an effort to bring the celebration of the festival of lights to the entire community, the party will be held in the Riverside School Barn in Lyndonville. Directions to The Barn at Riverside School: Take I-91 to exit 23 for US-5 toward State Route 114/Lyndonville/East Burke, Turn right onto Red Village Rd (0.6 mi), Turn left onto Lily Pond Rd, and the driveway and parking is immediately on the right.

This is not your typical barn dance. The event begins at 4:30 with a short service called Havdalah that ends the sabbath. At 5pm, there will be the lighting of the menorahs. Our local custom is that menorahs of all shapes and sizes will be lit together for all to enjoy. Following that, there will be latkes (potato pancakes), live music with Hanita Blair on guitar and Jason Bergman on the fiddle, and traditional Jewish dance instruction. The steps are not hard, so all can join in.

The synagogue has made this available to the entire community for free. You don’t have to be Jewish, or know what Hanukkah means, to help sponsor this event, and join in too! Donations to help make this available can be submitted on our webiste www.congregationbeth-el.org , or mail a check to Beth El Synagogue. P.O. Box 568 St. Johnsbury Vt 05819-0568.
