Dickens Holiday Talk & Special Reception

Manchester Community Library extends a warm invitation to one and all to enjoy a fascinating look at the story behind the writing of "A Christmas Carol" as well as a special holiday reception featuring delectable hors d'oeuvres donated by some of the area's finest restaurants as well as mulled cider and wine. This holiday gift to the community takes place in the Hunter Community Room of the Library.

During "Charles Dickens & the Writing of "A Christmas Carol," Lecturer Barry Deitz will discuss how Charles Dickens came up with the story and its unusual publishing history. In this illustrated talk, Deitz will also look at how this short book has impacted popular culture and shaped the modern celebration of the holiday.
