On Tuesday, December 8, the State of Vermont will be testing the Village stormwater system (Main St & side streets) to ensure that no residential or commercial sewer connections exist. Sewer connections to the stormwater system allow untreated wastewater to reach the Lamoille River. Testing is accomplished by filling the stormwater system with smoke which will not enter living areas, but will travel into any connected sewer lines and then up vent stacks to be visible at the roof line. Hyde Park has been working with the state for a few years now under the Ecosystem Restoration Program - more info on that program is here: http://www.watershedmanagement.vt.gov/erp/docs/erp_2012_NEIWPCC_050912.pdf
