Dear Neighbors,
Chittenden County Saves Week will take place September 23 – 27, 2013. The C.A.S.H. Coalition will host kickoff event to promote the week’s activities. The week include over 15 free classes taught by local experts on everything from saving money at the grocery store to creating a family budget to tax tips for small business owners.
Speakers at the kickoff will include State Treasurer Beth Pearce, Ted Castle of Rhino Foods (who provides employees financial literacy classes) and two successful savers.
WHEN: Monday, September 23, 2013, 11:00 am – noon.
WHERE: Amy Tarrant Gallery, Flynn Center, 153 Main Street, Burlington
WHY: Roughly three-quarters of Americans are living paycheck –to-paycheck with little to no emergency savings (per a June 2013 survey released by Bankrate.com). Many don’t know how to start. But saving event a small amount protects you from the unexpected and reduces stress.
Chittenden County Saves week is modeled after America Saves Week and is being presented by the C.A.S.H. (Creating Assets, Savings and Hope) Coalition of Chittenden County. C.A.S.H. members include the United Way, Champlain Housing Trust, Growing Money at CVOEO, Northfield Savings Bank, Hunger Free VT, the City of Burlington, and the IRS.
