House Concert in Randolph Center
Dave McGraw & Mandy Fer Duo
Wed. Dec. 9th 7pm
Dessert and BYOB
$15-20 suggested donation
This is spontaneity at its very best! And if you have already made plans, change them!! Dave McGraw & Mandy Fer are exceptional musicians on a rare East coast tour next week from British Columbia. Kara Lake of the local Jennings and McComber duo was introduced to their music through her older sister who is a personal friend of the duo. Kara reached out to Dave and Mandy right before Thanksgiving and managed to persuade them to bring their tour up to the Green Mountains for an unscheduled concert.
I saw them on YouTube and quickly offered to hostess this amazing West Coast duo and we invite folks who attend to bring a dessert and BYOB. We have limited space in an intimate house concert setting, so please RSVP as soon as possible. The first 30 eager guests are in! I'll keep a waiting list just in case. There is a $15-20 suggested donation to cover their expenses. Please RSVP to me: Janet Watton musbird@gmail.com
~~~~~~~
"McGraw and Fer met in Flagstaff, Arizona in 2010 before relocating to the Pacific Northwest in 2012. McGraw spent a decade as a wildlife biologist, studying endangered birds in remote locales from the deserts of Mexico and the Grand Canyon to the mountainous rainforests of Washington. Fer's musical pulse led her to Spain, where she studied music, language and local culture.
Together, their exceptional vocal harmonies coupled with Fer’s pioneering electric guitar work have become a vehicle to carry them around the world. The pair has honed their skills touring extensively throughout the US and Europe, sharing stages with fellow troubadours including Iron & Wine, Glen Hansard, Gregory Alan Isakov, Kelly Joe Phelps, Birds of Chicago and many others. Winning over audiences anywhere from Alaska to Amsterdam, McGraw and Fer are on the crest of a building wave with the US release of their new album, Maritime, in Spring 2015.
Maritime is rich in authenticity, navigating the waters of folk, indie-rock, and rootsy Americana. Compelling vocal harmonies grace every track, along with electric guitar, warm cello, driving rhythms and rich, wooded instruments. Maritime is both the asking of questions, and the subtle answers that an island reveals."
