‘Meet & Greet' Dr. Elaine Collins, New President at Jsc

Past event
Dec 9, 2015, 6 PM

At the request of Dr. Elaine C. Collins, who assumed the presidency of Johnson State College July 1, 2015, JSC is hosting an informal “Meet & Greet” with the president in lieu of an official inauguration. The event is open to the public and will take place on campus from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, in the Performance Space of the Stearns Student Center. The public is invited to drop in any time during these hours.

Dr. Collins will speak briefly at 6 p.m., and light refreshments will be served.
An award-winning administrator and researcher whose interests focus on arts and education, Dr. Collins became the 13th president (and 18th leader) of Johnson State College upon the retirement of Barbara E. Murphy, who had led the college for 14 years. Dr. Collins previously served as dean and chief operating officer of the 4,000-student College of Education at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. Before that, she was vice president of arts and sciences at West Shore Community College in Michigan and interim vice president of academic affairs at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

During her time at Grand Valley State University, Dr. Collins strengthened academic programs, increased financial support, improved the physical plant, implemented an inclusive vision of shared governance, and expanded external programs. A first-generation college student, she holds a Ph.D. in education policy and leadership.

Parking restrictions will not be enforced during the “Meet & Greet,” so guests are free to park in any campus lot. For more information, contact Cecilia North at 802-635-1240 or Cecilia.North@jsc.edu.
