Isn't the new pavement on Route 116 great? Especially now that construction is complete! Smooth surface, new pavement and linework, but... same old traffic congestion when you get to the Hinesburg village area in the morning or evening peak times.
Your intrepid transportation planners (e.g., VTrans, Selectboard, Road Foreman, yours truly, etc.) understand where some of the problems lie. What about YOU? You drive, walk, bike, and do business in the Route 116 corridor every day. What do YOU see as the biggest issues? What makes you cringe? What improvements/solutions seem obvious to you?
Help us help you. Come to the Hinesburg Town Hall on Tuesday evening (9/24 at 7pm) to sound off, speak out, and shape up our Route 116 Corridor Study project. We'll be back later in the fall to get feedback on possible solutions, but first we want to make sure we have the issues fleshed out. Can't make the meeting, but want to share your thoughts? Just email me, and I'll pass your message along to the project steering committee and consultant. For more information on the Route 116 Corridor Study, see the Town website at http://www.hinesburg.org/route116-corridor-study. Many thanks to the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission for funding and overseeing this project!
