Champlain Parkway Meeting Monday

Past event
Nov 30, 2015, 7 PM

For the first time in several years the public can learn and ask questions about the Champlain Parkway project. It starts at 7 p.m. Monday November 30 at the Champlain Elementary School on Pine Street adjacent to Champlain Chocolates.

AARP Vermont, Local Motion, SEABA and others host the information meeting.

A new group composed of Burlington residents formed Safe Streets Burlington to support a Parkway re-design without requiring unreasonable delay, a re-design which assures the same kind of high quality, highest safety for all modes contained in the North Avenue Corridor Plan approved by Mayor and Council last year. They support a business friendly roadway helping economic activity, particularly along the arts and retail section of Pine Street. "Stop! Re-Evaluate! and Re-Imagine" sums up the Safe Streets Burlington approach at their website www.SafeStreetsBurlington.com Following the City's Walk Bike Council, Safe Streets Burlington supports separate sidewalks and cycle track (protected bike lanes), safe small roundabouts at intersections, a roundabout, keeping Pine Street open to Queen City Park Road and points south, and diversion of truck traffic from neighborhoods.
