Dear Addison Residents
The Addison Central School has been an integral part of Addison culture and a center of academic excellence for generations. However, the educational landscape has recently experienced unprecedented stresses and legislative imperatives. To meet these challenges and assure continued opportunities for our children to access high quality educational experiences a committee was formed to address the requirements of Act 46.
Act 46 is a new state law that seeks to reduce the number of school districts through unification by offering tax incentives and other benefits to those districts which unify. Failure to voluntarily unify will result in forced unification at the discretion of the state in 2018.
The ANwSU Act 46 Unification Committee will hold an open forum in the Addison school on December 1, 2015, from 6 to 8 PM. This committee is made up of representative from the four surrounding towns and Addison. They have been working hard on drafting articles of unification.
Now is the time for you to come and learn about the proposals and speak with the committee members. You are encouraged to share your concerns, values, and hopes for the future of your children and the Addison Central School.
I hope to see all of you at this momentous meeting. Decisions made by this committee will have a profound effect on the education your children will experience.
Please feel free to ask your neighbors, friends and family members to attend. I know that I can rely on you to be active participants in this process and hope to see all of you on December 1, 2015 at 6 pm in the ACS gym.
