Easy Opportunity for Holiday Joy This Saturday at HUHS
Just want to remind everyone of the fun, lively performance of Nutcracker coming up this weekend, presented by GMPA at Harwood on Saturday 11/21.
I ended up at the blocking rehearsal last night and now am REALLY looking forward to the show – the choreography is upbeat and attention-grabbing, the adapted story is well-paced, and it is just really inspiring to see what kids can accomplish.
There are all ages of dancers on the stage and all forms of dancing, with a heavy Celtic/Highland influence. The music is a mix of classic Tchaikovsky as well as traditional and contemporary music from Ireland, Scotland and the US.
GMPA is Green Mountain Performing Arts, a local nonprofit arts organization, is located across from Snowfire. Tucked away in the corner next to Dave’s Fitness, they offer classes for ALL ages and levels in Irish, Highland (= Scottish), ballet, breakin’, hiphop, jazz, and chorus.
Please come Saturday! It is great to be able to support this cool organization; cheer on the kids (many of whom you’ll know or recognize) who have worked so hard to put it on; and especially lovely to find a little personal holiday joy before we fully head into the rush of the Season next week. Tickets are $16 for adults, $12 for kids and there are two shows: at 4 and at 7. Tickets can be purchased at the show (cash) or in advance (credit): http://www.greenmountainperformingarts.org
Hope to see you there!
