Efficiently Tracing Your Roots in Quebec - Using the PRDH & LaFrance Databases in Tandem

These two richly populated databases make tracing your French-Canadian ancestry in Quebec back to the origins of New France not only possible but very rewarding. The Drouin Institute and the University of Montreal have teamed up to bring genealogists invaluable tools that just get better each year!! With a little practice these databases are easy to use and reveal a wealth of information from baptism, marriage and burial records. Vital statistics on whole families are linked from one generation to the next and are available with minimal data entry. Knowing how to use these two databases together and putting some of the tips learned in this class to work for you can help you fill out many of the branches of your family tree - all the way back to France. Following the class, instructor Jane Whitmore & other experienced volunteers will help attendees with searches in our computer room using our library's subscriptions to these databases.

As an added benefit on Saturday, Sebastien Robert, vice-president of The Drouin Institute will be here during and after the class. He will fill us in on the other databases found on the Quebec Records website and on projects the institute is working on to continue to improve access to Quebec records.

Join us Saturday for a very informative look at Quebec records!! (Note: class fees are $5 and include a handout. For directions go to our website at: www.vtgenlib.org/general/directions.php)
