Thanksgiving Community Chorus Concert

The Middlebury College Community Chorus presents a wonderful Thanksgiving musical celebration on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 22 at 3:00pm in Mead Chapel on the College campus. 100 singers – college students from across the globe and residents from nearly every town in Addison County – will lift their voices in this free concert, open to all. Tim Guiles masterfully accompanies this dynamic choir, and Jeff Rehbach directs.

The program includes inspiring historic choruses by Bach, Handel and Mendelssohn, with excerpts from the 'Magnificat,' the 'Messiah,' and 'Hymn of Praise.' Of special note, the chorus offers two sensitive and inspiring works by Addison County musicians: 'Ocean, Ocean' by Sally Hoyler, and the premiere of 'A Blessing for Dear Friends' by Nathan Wallace-Gusakov. Works by contemporary American composers complete the program: the beautiful 'Pilgrims' Hymn' by Stephen Paulus; a joyous setting of an ancient psalm, 'Jubilate Deo' by David Childs; a new arrangement of 'Let There be Peace on Earth' by Craig Courtney; an enthralling composition, 'Soulspeak' by Z. Randall Stroope, based on the poem Ulysses by Alfred Lord Tennyson; and the toe-tapping gospel tune 'Let Everything That Hath Breath' by Jeffery Ames.

Come enjoy a special afternoon of song!
