The VNA Family Room Needs Our Help!

Past event

The VNA family room is a parent child center in Burlington's north end that helps strengthen and provide support to families with it's wonderful programs. They have offered family play groups, fathers groups, infant massage classes, yoga for parents, parent education and skills training over the last decades. They embrace the diverse backgrounds and cultures of all families who come to the family room.

With very little notice and without the opportunity for stakeholders to find another solution, three beloved staff people who have served a collective 50 years at the family room were let go due to the loss of a grant. Valuable programs were reduced and lost along with the loss of these dedicated community workers. People are coming together to stand behind the family room to reinstate Linda, Rosie and Glen and to restore the dynamic and impactful programs that help families thrive. We can help!

1. A grass roots crowd-funding effort has been started by friend, mother, and educator, Charlotte Safran. Please help out if you can. Every dollar will help valuable and life changing programs continue to support local families. To donate, please go to:

2. Please take a quick moment and join me in signing this petition for the VNA to reinstate Linda, Rosie and Glen and to restore programs at the family room.

3. Come to the Craft Fair, bake sale and raffle at st. Joseph's school At 20 Allen st. in the cafeteria behind the family room's large play space in Burlington this Saturday Nov. 21 from 9-3! There will be an array of wonderful vendors and raffles of goods and gift certificates.

4. You are welcome to join meetings of stakeholders as we work together to embrace and create a sustainable future for the family room. The next meeting is Wed. Nov 18 from 6-8 pm at 20 Allen st.

I personally felt blessed to be able to bring my young children to the family room when they were infants and toddlers. Over 400 families a year are served by the various programs they offer. It is a treasure to the community and to all it serves! Feel free to contact me if you want to get involved and have more questions.

Many, many thanks for considering helping The Family Room during this time of need!
