Have you had a chance to see the new show up at The White Meeting House in Waterbury Village? It is a celebration work by local florist Ned Davis who, for ten years, has created weekly installations at the church that use flowers to explore ideas of spirit, challenge and grace.
Ned’s colorful and sculptural work demonstrates the dramatic potential of this medium for artistic expression. His arrangements go beyond bouquets and into the realm of sculpture and installation art. Although developed in response to religious texts and ideas, his pieces speak to universal experiences of struggle, doubt and joy.
This show will appeal to many church goers and spiritual explorers, but also to gardeners, to artists, and to anyone who would enjoy seeing how one person’s passion can be turned into action that enriches the lives of many.
On Sunday, November 22nd at noon, Ned will be offering an art talk about his work – from inspiration to technical aspects of implementing his design ideas. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
The show will run through December 9 at the White Meeting House, 8 North Main Street in Waterbury. Admission is free and open to the public on Tuesdays through Fridays, 9 to 4, or by special appointment. Call 244-6606 with questions.
