Annegret Baier, renowned percussionist and teacher, will be holding an evening performance of drumming at Sterling College. The performance will feature Baier as well as Sterling students who have completed a workshop earlier that day.
The performance will be on Saturday, November 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the Dunbar Dining Hall. This event is open to the public; heartfelt listening or dancing is encouraged, and donations are gratefully accepted.
Baier received her classical music training in violin, voice, and piano from the University of Music in Stuttgart. She has studied with master drummers from Guinea, Ghana, Cuba, and Brazil. She has completed several residencies with her primary teacher, Famoudou Konate, in Conakry, Guinea. She is a knowledgeable teacher not only of percussion, but of the role of drumming to the African music culture.
