Residents of the Town of Barre,
This coming Tuesday Nov. 17 the Barre Town Select board will be holding a public hearing at 7 pm in the municipal building, select board meeting room. The purpose of the public hearing is to hear from Barre Town residents about the process and taxation of solar fields in our community. The State of Vermont has put together a task force to take testimony from municipalities as to how they feel about the current practice and procedures for locating solar fields in their communities. This is your chance to let your local elected officials know what you think about the states current handling of solar fields. The public hearing will start with a brief description of the current state practices. This hearing will outline your communities involvement with the permitting process that is in place today at the state level.

There are currently 2 solar fields in Barre Town and there are 5 others that are proposed and going through the permit process now.

Please come to this important hearing and be part of this discussion that gives your select board some direction for comments to make to the Vermont Task force for permitting solar fields.
