Hi Neighbors,
That's Sunday September 29th! We will be celebrating the Historical Society's new attempt to acquire a $20,000 grant to restore the Creamery (that building to the right of the town office) to a safe condition. Their plans are to use it for a stained glass workshop. I have a little experience in stained glass and will be willing to loan the town much of the expensive tools and will donate some of my surplus stained and antique glass . This would give the town's people another avenue for creativity, and perhaps learn a new skill. How cool would that be?
I've spoken to the town's new principal (lovely lady), and she will bring the school children to Windswept Farm to gather apples on Friday. They will all get to bring one shiny apple to their parents, kind of reverse, most of the time the teacher gets the apple, right? The apples will be pressed to make cider in front of the creamery. This cider is free, and perhaps we may even make enough that families might bring home a quart. We will be pressing apples from 11:30 - 3:00 PM.
We will also have a silent auction that will be benefiting the Historical Society. This year it will be a complete hard cider/wine making and bottling setup. This setup will make cases and cases of bottled cider or wine.
The Energy Committee has been requested to bring some PR in reference to the Vermont Energy Challenge. It is a challenge where the town which does the highest percentage of weatherization gets a $10,000 award! Martin Smith from the H.E.A.T. Squad will be setting up a table to give anyone interested in finding out if a little money invested this winter will bring permanent dividends in the future.
Oh, and don't forgot Grant Reynolds (Historical Society ) will be giving a tour of all the historical buildings in Tinmouth at 2:00 PM.
Last, but certainly not the least, the fire department will also be supporting the creamery's restoration by displaying some of their really awesome fire trucks and some really neat equipment, like heat sensing tools, the latest smoke protection gear. This is an opportunity for children of ALL ages to sit in, or climb up on a real fire truck.
Oh yeah, you may even spot a cute looking girl walking around town on stilts. Maybe if you spot her you can ask her if she'd teach you how to walk on stilts too.
Hope to see you there!
Alan
