LEDC PRESENTS WORKSHOP ON LEGAL ISSUES IN EMPLOYMENT

MORRISVILLE – “Small businesses ARE their employees” In today’s challenging economic times, employers continue to grapple with changing laws, new interpretations of existing laws, and evolving notions of acceptable workplace conduct. Effective management of the employment relationship is critical to assure a safe, productive workplace where all employees are treated fairly, while also avoiding costly legal expenses. This workshop covers several areas of employment regulation, both federal and state, engaging participants through situational analyses and hands-on exercises designed to reinforce the learning experience. Major topics to be covered include:
● Effective interviewing and hiring
● Employee retention and conflict resolution
● Wage and hour issues, including overtime and independent contractor status.

If you work in HR or own or manage a business, you can’t afford to miss this highly informative workshop.

The workshop Presenter is Barbara L. Johnson, Ed.M, who recently retired from her position as the Vice President and Chief Human Resource Officer at UVM. Johnson has also served in a similar position at Dartmouth College and was the Director of Compensation and Benefits at Harvard University. She currently serves as HR Practice Leader for consulting firm, Success 360, The workshop will take place on November 18th from 9 am to noon in the Community Room at GMTCC.
