North Avenue Task Force Meeting #8

Meeting Goals:
1.Decide whether to phase the pilot in stages, north to south
2.Decide parking / bike lane configuration for December Public Works Commission meeting
3.Review flyers and other outreach materials
4.Assign specific outreach responsibilities
5. Review website status
Housekeeping Items (10 minutes):
NATF Member and public introductions;
Review and approve tonight’s agenda
Review and approve notes from October 13 meeting;
Review actions taken at October 13 meeting, which was not publicly warned for Open Meeting law compliance;
Use of Google Groups for agendas and meeting notes;
Clarify (elect) Jason and Paul as Co Chairs, reflected in updated Operating Guidelines.

Public Comment Period (10 minutes):
Councilor Comments (If any)

Proposal to Phase Pilot in Sections (30 minutes):
Review relevant traffic data;
Is slip lane closure required any longer? ;
Brainstorm arguments for and against phasing;
Vote on phased approach by the Task Force.

Proposal to Swap On Street Parking for Bike Lanes from Institute Road to Plattsburgh Avenue (20 minutes):
Discussion and public input
Vote on elimination of parking by the Task Force

Outreach (30 minutes):
Who, what, when and where
Hannaford’s other retail locations?
Schools and PTO Meetings
Front Porch Forums and NPA’s
Mailings to residents
Lawn signs?
Production of flyers using DPW’s “Teamwork” app.

Resident Feedback after Implementation (15 minutes):
Use of tablets Verizon provide for free??
How to avoid double counting, yet reach representative groups.
Door to door canvassing? Station at outreach locations: Hannaford, other retail locations, schools and PTO meetings, NPAs
