Bitter Fruits & Combat Boots: a Hip Hopera is a collaboration between puppeteer Amy Trompetter and East Harlem rap artist Not4Prophet.
Transgressing the traditional “Punch and Judy” hand puppet show, this unlikely collaboration draws from a wide variety of sources to deliver its hard hitting message. The Bible, Medieval Mystery Plays, and the daily news are all found intermingling as Trompetter and Not4Prophet create a poignant atmosphere with the pairing of archetypal hand puppets and politically charged, angst fueled hiphop.
