Once again, the Old Lantern is being questioned as a legitimate business in Charlotte. ...just a little background. The Old Lantern was built in 1960 as a business that served food and had events ranging from public dances, concerts to private family events.

New residents to Charlotte (2015) from out of state are stating:
-the Old Lantern never served food. There was never a kitchen before we owned it.
-The Old Lantern never had events open to the public serving food
-The Old Lantern did not have loud events
-The Old Lantern was closed for 6 months so the Old Lantern would should lose its conditional use to have events.
Zoning laws in Charlotte are dated back to 1965 and we were built in 1960.

This Wednesday, 7pm, November 4, there is a meeting at the Town Hall in Charlotte to discuss our existance. Please join us to share your knowledge of the history of the Old Lantern. If you are not able to join us, please share with friends of the Old Lantern.

Remember going to Square Dances with live bands eating food prepared in the kitchen by Mary Burns and her crew . As for loud music it could be heard in the valley .The Sportsman Club have had several game dinners in the pass and the food was prepared in the kitchen at the The Old Lantern Inn and Barnl we had laud music with dinner and dancing These events were in January/ February New years Eve , Valentine dance and wedding were also events that were held during the winter months .Its sad that when new people move into a town or neighborhood they think they need to change everything that has been going on .There is a lot of history surrounding the The Old Lantern Inn and Barn
