In response to Mike Lee's posting, and to clarify any possible confusion, The New Haven Selectboard will meet Tuesday Nov 3 for its regularly scheduled meeting at 7 P.M. One item on the agenda is to hear from representatives of Anbaric Transmission. This company is seeking to build a transmission system to carry renewable electrical energy from Canada and upstate New York to southern New England - Mass, Rhode Island, and Connecticut (not Vermont). This will require the construction of a very large converter station next to the existing substation. The cables will be buried through land currently owned by Mike Lee. Anbaric has told us they have purchased an option to buy Mr. Lee's property.
Many of the questions we have asked are the same questions we asked at the original meeting months ago. While Anbaric continues its prep and survey work, we continue to await answers. If you are interested in learning more about this project, please come to the Selectboard meeting. I anticipate a follow up meeting on November 17 to give Anbaric whatever opportunity they feel they need to completely explain their project and proposal.
If any resident wants to see the questions the Selectboard sent to Anbaric, please email either me or any Selectboard member. All five are willing to help. Also, if you have an opinion on the appropriateness of this large project, please share your thoughts with any or all of the members.
I hope you will attend Tuesday night. I am confident the conflicting notices did not cause anyone to change plans, which is why the updated announcement was made on FPF as soon as Anbaric changed their minds and decided to attend.
