Coming up on this weekend on Saturday, September 21, from 9 am -- noon: join a free, naturalist-guided walk through the fall landscape to explore rich wildlife habitat and signs of early settlers near where Bolton, Richmond and Jericho intersect. We will start and end at the marked VAST trail on Stage Road in Bolton, three miles from Rt. 2.
The walk is being organized by Science to Action, a cooperative effort by the towns of Bolton, Huntington, Jericho and Richmond to improve the way natural resources are conserved in each community. The project consists of a four-town natural resources inventory, technical assistance to towns in advancing their planning and conservation goals, and public events and educational activities.
And there's more: On Wednesday, October 2, from 7 - 9 pm at the Camels Hump Middle School cafeteria in Richmond, acclaimed naturalist and wildlife photographer Sue Morse of Keeping Track will give a talk and slide show focused on our area's rich wildlife habitat and other natural resources. Sue's research has taken her to scores of wild places throughout North America in her 40-year career. And she continues making the case that "There's No Place Like Home" -- that the strength and diversity of local wildlife populations make ours a place to treasure.
The event is free of charge and light refreshments will be served.
