The School Board will hold a special meeting Monday, November 2, at 7 PM at the school. Purpose is to consider the questions for the special town and school district meeting on December 5. They are: whether to sell the school buildings, whose ownership is unclear, to the town for $1, so that the town has clear title. School would retain the right to use the buildings for educational purposes and would continue to be responsible for maintainence, repair and upkeep. Second, whether the Tax Stabilization Fund can be used to pay any deficit in the 2015-2016 budget. While we hope there won't be one, it's a possibility. Third, in the event of school district consolidation, should the Tax Stabilization Fund be transferred to the town, 75% to be a maintainence fund for the Community Center, and the school buildings if the town becomes responsible for them, and the balance to the Community Scholarship Fund. The School District would retain funds to cover any estimated deficit and any amount used to balance the 2016-2017 budget.
