Sept. 21: a Walk into the Past Forest Tour

Past event
Sep 21, 2013, 9 AM to 12 PM

Coming up on this weekend on Saturday, September 21, from 9 am – noon: join a free guided walk to explore rich wildlife habitat and signs of early settlers where near where Bolton, Richmond and Jericho intersect. The hike will be led by Wright Preston whose family bought the land in the 1940s and it is now conserved for its conservation values and naturalist Everett Marshall who is a biologist with the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department. We will start and end at the marked VAST trail on Stage Road in Bolton, three miles from Rt. 2 in Jonesville.

Science to Action is a cooperative effort by the towns of Bolton, Huntington, Jericho and Richmond to improve the way natural resources are conserved in each community. The project consists of a four-town natural resources inventory, technical assistance to towns in advancing their planning and conservation goals, and public engagement and educational activities.

Coming soon, on Wednesday, October 2, from 7 - 9 pm at the Camels Hump Middle School cafeteria in Richmond. acclaimed photographer and naturalist Sue Morse of Keeping Track will talk about just what makes our area special among the scores she has studied in her 40-year career. She’ll talk about the strength and diversity of local habitats and illustrate her talk with spectacular slides of wildlife she's encountered locally. The event is free of charge and light refreshments will be served.
